Spotlights
A member of our community answers a distinct question with an honest, delightful response.
Every couple of months, I revisit the incredible spotlight pieces on the CFC website, reading them and thinking how lucky I am to get to know and share time and space with you all. It's a privilege to be part of a community that brings so much goodness, light, and love into the world. I appreciate many of you sharing your work, your wisdom, and your heart. So I've included a small handful of quotes from past spotlight pieces. And below Tim Vogt's quote, I attached a special photo taken with him this past October. Here is the link to the CFC website with the full writings.

Today's spotlight is a little different than usual as it does not come with a specific question. However, Jaime's piece reminds me of Dorie's spotlight from a couple months back, which sparked a thoughtful conversation over a Zoom call with many of you around gardening -- both in the literal and figurative sense. In other words, nurturing both plants as well as relationships, and what that looks and feels like.
Question for Dave:
Do you recall an unexpected pathway toward a healing in life in whatever way, shape, form that looked like and at whatever level it occurred?
Question for Muayyad:
Does one person first come to mind: In your very very first “adult” job -- when you were perhaps first out of college or over the age of 21 let’s say – is there someone that pops to mind who brings a smile to your face not because of anything in your specific relationship but just because of who they were or how they moved through the world?
Question for Mia:
Does one particular travel experience come to mind (whether travel for work or vacation) that had a substantial and LASTING impact on your life?
Question for Beck:
The Serenity Prayer offers: “Grant me the serenity to accept what I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference…”. With this thought, does something come to mind that you couldn’t change but had (or are having) trouble accepting?
Question for Dorie:
What is one thing that is small and perhaps nuanced or surprising and perhaps typically sub conscious that you can tell drives you each day ?
Question for Joe:
There is an idea that we can learn from every single person on the planet. But there are also deeply ingrained habits we have been trained in that “teachers” have a formal designation which might limit our scope for learning. With that thought, does someone come to mind in the past five weeks that you wouldn’t consider a “formal” teacher at all but who you learned something special from… (perhaps even someone you aren’t even fond of) ?
Question for Julie:
Can you recall a specific moment in the last four months that you were in what you would consider to be “nature” and thought or felt for at least a split second that “maybe all is actually right with the world” ?
Question for Chris:
Does one particular travel experience come to mind (whether travel for work or vacation) that had a substantial and LASTING impact on your life?
Question for Tim:
What is one significant and lousy decision you made that accidentally resulted in some positive indirect outcomes?
Question for Chris:
Does one particular travel experience come to mind (whether travel for work or vacation) that had a substantial and LASTING impact on your life?
Question for Joe:
Does one particular travel experience come to mind (whether travel for work or vacation) that had a substantial and LASTING impact on your life?
Question for Allison:
Do you recall a moment or period in your work/career where your feeling of “mis-alignment” was growing simply too large and causing you anxiety or bad sleep… What practical change or action did you take?
Question for Susan:
Can you recall a specific moment in the last four months that you were in what you would consider to be “nature” and thought or felt for at least a split second that “maybe all is actually right with the world” ?
Question for Laurie:
The Serenity Prayer offers: “Grant me the serenity to accept what I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference….” With this thought, does something come to mind that you couldn’t change but had (or having) trouble accepting?
Question for Bill:
Does one person first come to mind: In your very very first “adult” job -- when you were perhaps first out of college or over the age of 21 let’s say – is there someone that pops to mind who brings a smile to your face not because of anything in your specific relationship but just because of who they were or how they moved through the world?
I have loved reading these CFC Spotlights and getting to hear little snippets and stories from the lives of people in this special community. So today I decided to spotlight some short quotes from the last few months…
