A Backbeat of Community
I have loved reading these CFC Spotlights and getting to hear little snippets and stories from the lives of people in this special community. So today I decided to spotlight some short quotes from the last few months. There are only 5, but if you'd like to access the entire "spotlight" library of people and their full writings, here is the link to the website! Also, at the bottom of this there's a photo of Frank and I on a balcony overlooking the gorgeous Hawaiian water he mentions in his quote!

"There’s a script that tells me that I couldn’t possibly have anything to share that hasn’t been written more beautifully, more clearly, more inspirationally by someone else. When I do make an attempt, I get tangled up trying to sound smart, rather than expressing authentically what I ‘know.’ Perhaps I could rewire my intention and write from my heart and soul instead of for others. Will the walls come crumbling down?"

"And in the backdrop was this grand river – quietly imposing but serene. Overall, the spirits were high and the atmosphere was energising. It was then that I reflected - where there is overwhelming ‘human connectedness', there can be moments of joy, hope and laughter, even in the midst of abject poverty."
- Lan Lakshminarayana
"I would always come away learning and feeling just a tad more confident/free after each interaction, even if I screwed up or missed something. I do believe that free people do free people... and I am so grateful he lived that out."
- Suzi Chun-Turley
"More recently, my curiosity led me to learn about mindfulness and “watching” my thoughts and reactions. So today, I have new questions—call it an “expansion pack”: “Why did I react that way?” “Where is this emotion coming from?” and “What made me answer this question as I did here!?” Life often feels like a game, with infinite results that will unfold and keep things interesting."

"Nature’s gift of the whales breaching, in that gorgeous water, with those beautiful souls turned my temporary frustrations into eternal awe and reminded me that, while not everything is right in the world, I certainly possess the power to make the things in my control right, IF I have the courage to chase the extraordinary and live Serve First lives."
