#280: Autumn themed anti pet peeves ROUND 1

I reached out to different community members asking if they would contribute an anti pet peeve related to the season of autumn. I am sharing just a very small handful below as they are so rich. More to come a bit later! Sending joy your way today in this wonderful season of change. And please feel free to let me know if you have one you'd like to contribute :)

Autumn-Themed Anti Pet Peeves - Round 1

For me, autumn is fire pit season.  Marshmallows and/or a few drinks. Friends and family.  We used to have it in our backyard, but a few years ago, we wondered if moving it to the front yard might not be a better idea.  It’s created a not-so-beautiful circle on our front lawn where the grass doesn’t grow…but now, it’s 10 feet from the sidewalk.  Neighbors walking together stop and chat.  Kids on the block stop in for a marshmallow.  We are certain we are depreciating the home value with the spectacle of it all, but the value added to our lives and block is worth the tradeoff.

Animals visiting from the forest. I love seeing Bambi in the backyard. (Photo attached below)

Food advent calendars. I especially love the chocolate ones and the French and Italian ones with herbs and olive oil. I usually buy several different ones so I can keep opening them in the new year.  I also keep one with home spa items ready for stressful times, so that I always have something fun to look forward to.

I love riding my bike through all seasons, but there is something special about cool fresh autumn days on a bike. All is changing around me. Rides I have done so often seem so different. Sweat and heat are replaced by a chill and new layers of clothes. Every few minutes I ride through waves of new smells of wood burning, fertilizer and/or manure, and just new sweet unidentified odors. But the greatest part of rides in autumn are the leaves. Not just the sight and colors all around, but it’s the sounds. I love the crackling sounds of riding through leaves. I look for the leaves. I move toward the piles. I love riding through leaves. I’m a kid again.

Mine actually happened just now - as I'm sitting in my living room working with the windows open around me and a cool fall breeze comes through and reminds me to take a breath and pause a moment to look out at the wonderful landscape which is now painted by a variety of warm earthy colors.
