CFC Blog #229: Justice / Just us

I, along with a couple other members of the CFC, recently received this poem LIVE (spoken out loud on Zoom) from our friend Kurt Peloquin, sent to him by the author (his friend). It had the remarkable effect of clearing my mental story, and RE-MINDing me of how much feels possible in my life when I make the conscious choice to ACT from a sense of belonging to a JOY-focused community.

Perhaps this poem might affect you, too.

Justice / Just us

There is no justice in this world; only our collective struggles towards it.

All we have are our collective desires and practices.

Through bellies on fire, heavy hearts, cloudy visions, longings to ground in new prayers and practices for the future,

We gather in community.

We circle up to receive the resource and restoration required.

We circle up to grieve, to heal, to learn.

We circle up to clarify our missions, to locate the choices that wait in our wings, to discern action.

We circle up to find sanctuary, to make strategy, to foster strength.

We circle up, because going solo is NOT an option.

We circle up because that’s what we’ve always done. And that’s what we’ll continue to do.

Keep circling up, fam.

We’re all we got.

Just us.
